Why choose this course?
Length of course: 1 or 2 days 9.30 – 4.30
Expected outcomes: by the end of the course participants will be able to
- compare the different underlying models of health and care provision
- explore the impact of varying experiences and expectations
- relate the changes in terminology to practice development
- identify the definitions involved in anti discriminatory practice
- understand the layers of oppression in personal, structural and societal terms
- evaluate power imbalances in society and service provision
- identify the impact on marginalized groups
- celebrate the value of diversity
Nature of training:
Maximum of 16 participants .Exercises will range from lecture style input (small) to discussion and small group work and to individual sharing within pairs.
Hand outs will be provided to reinforce all theoretical input.
All of our experiences have value and this will be a participatory workshop with great opportunity for contribution from everyone.
There is likely to be some music, and even a bit of dancing to spice up this training plus an interesting buffet lunch!
