Why choose this course?
Length of course: 1 day 9.30 – 4.30 Please note that in exceptional circumstances this course can be delivered in half a day but will not be as effective as the full day.
Expected outcomes ~ by the end of the course participants will be able to
- understand the background to adult safeguarding
- define adult abuse
- know the difference between the old terminology and the new
- recognise some signs and symptoms of abuse
- identify high risk factors that predispose abuse
- discuss why abuse is sometimes not reported
- know what to do in the case of suspected abuse
- be confident in the 4 stages in Adult Safeguarding: alerting, referring, investigating and monitoring
- clear as to the service’s commitment to safeguarding adults at risk
Nature of training:
Maximum of 16 staff members in participative group work.
Exercises will range from lecture style input to discussion and small group work.
Hand outs will be provided to reinforce all theoretical input.
This course can be reinforced by a booklet and workbook and by the use of DVD.
